AUSTRALIAN STUDENT VISA (SUBCLASS 500)

The Australian student visa approval rate for Duc Anh EduConnect students is 98%. Below is the essential information you need to know.

1. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUSTRALIAN STUDENT VISA 

The visa you must apply for to study in Australia is the Student Visa (Subclass 500), regardless of your study level or field. The visa application must be lodged online via: online.immi.gov.au/elp/app. Visa processing time is approximately 4 weeks, and the visa can be granted for a maximum of 6 years.

After graduation, international students may stay in Australia to work as follows:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s by coursework graduates: 2–4 years
  • Master’s by research and PhD graduates: 3–5 years
  • Students may also apply for permanent residency under skilled migration pathways if eligible.

Visa Assessment Levels for Vietnamese Citizens: Depending on the university you apply to, your visa will fall under one of the following assessment levels:

  • Assessment Level 1
    • No mandatory evidence of financial capacity or English required for the visa office.
    • However, schools may still request financial and English declarations.
    • The visa office may also request additional documents if needed.
  • Assessment Level 2
    • Must provide evidence of savings sufficient for 1 year of tuition and living costs (savings can be newly opened or existing).
    • Must provide income statements and evidence of family assets to both the school and visa office.
  • Assessment Level 3
    • Must provide evidence of savings sufficient for 1 year of tuition and living costs, and the savings account must be at least 3 months in advance.
    • Must provide income statements and evidence of family assets to both the school and visa office.

When Financial and/or English Evidence Is Required

Financial evidence options:

  • Savings sufficient for 1 year of tuition, living expenses, and travel costs, or
  • Evidence of annual income of at least AUD 87,856, or
  • Proof of participation in an approved student exchange program or scholarship.

English evidence options: You may submit results from any approved English tests, meeting the score requirements as specified by Australian immigration and your institution.

Notes for Primary and Secondary School Students

Age requirements at course commencement:

  • Year 9: under 17 years old
  • Year 10: under 18 years old
  • Year 11: under 19 years old
  • Year 12: under 20 years old

Additional notes:

  • Parents may accompany students under 18 as a guardian.
  • Primary school students can only be granted a visa for up to 2 years and must extend afterward.
