EMPLOYMENT AND IMMIGRATION IN POLAND

Thursday - 18/12/2025
  1. Part-time work during studies:
As of 1 May 2015, full-time students, regardless of whether they hold a temporary residence permit or a visa (study permit), are allowed to work in Poland without needing a work permit during the validity period of their residence permit (visa or card).

The Polish government allows international students to work full-time, up to 40 hours/week, instead of only 20 hours/week as in most other European countries. Of course, working 40 hours per week is too much and will seriously affect your studies, so we recommend working no more than 20 hours/week.

Students can work part-time throughout their studies in basic jobs such as kitchen assistants, shop attendants, café/restaurant waiters, etc. However, to secure a job more easily, you will need to be proficient in English (with some basic communication skills in Polish), as well as understand the local culture and lifestyle.

  1. Job opportunities and settlement after graduation:
According to the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP), by 2025 the demand for highly skilled workers (bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral levels) will increase by 41.5% compared to 2015. Additionally, during the same period, the Polish workforce is expected to decrease by 1.3% to 5% due to an aging population.

According to another report by the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Poland (ZPP), the Polish economy needs an additional 5 million workers in the next 30 years to sustain growth. Meanwhile, Poland is facing the emigration of about 2 million highly educated young Polish citizens to other European labour markets such as Germany, France, Italy, etc.

Therefore, this represents a strong opportunity for international students in general and Vietnamese students in particular who wish to work in Poland and settle in Europe after graduating from university.
