UNIVERSITIES IN SINGAPORE

Tuesday - 09/12/2025

Universities in Singapore offer a full range of academic programs, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

There are three types of universities in Singapore:

  • Public Universities
  • Private Universities
  • Foreign Universities in Singapore
  1. Public Universities

Vietnamese students MUST pass an entrance examination to enroll in public universities, which is highly competitive. The main advantage is significantly subsidized tuition fees for successful applicants. However, students who receive the government subsidy are required to work for a Singapore-based company for 3 years after graduation. If not, they must repay the subsidy amount to the Singapore government.

Representative institutions include:

  1. Private Universities in Singapore

Students do not take entrance exams. Admission is based on application review, similar to universities in the UK, Australia, the US, New Zealand, and Canada. Most private universities offer scholarships or tuition grants, and with three intakes per year, students can complete a bachelor’s degree in two years (six terms). These universities offer multi-disciplinary programs following a dual-pathway structure:

  • Singapore-awarded diplomas (2-4 terms) that allow progression to degree programs;
  • Degree programs awarded by partner universities from the UK, Australia, the US, New Zealand, Canada, etc. (2-4 terms for top-up degrees).
