9. Study Pathways for Vietnamese Students

  • After Grade 11: University Foundation Programme + Bachelor’s degree (from Year 1)
  • After Grade 12, students may choose:
    • University Foundation Programme + Bachelor’s degree (from Year 1);
    • Diploma (1 year) + Bachelor’s degree (from Year 2);
    • Direct entry to Bachelor’s degree (from Year 1)
  • After completing a Bachelor’s degree (3-4 years): Progression to Master’s or PhD programmes
  • After completing a Master’s degree (1-2 years): Progression to a PhD programme

QUT accepts graduates from all Vietnamese high schools.

  • University Foundation Programme: Completion of Grade 11, GPA ≥ 7.5, IELTS ≥ 5.5, or completion of Grade 12, GPA ≥ 5.0, IELTS ≥ 5.5
  • Diploma: Completion of Grade 12, GPA ≥ 6.5, IELTS ≥ 5.5
  • Bachelor’s degree: Completion of Grade 12 at specialised high schools, GPA ≥ 7.5-8.0, IELTS ≥ 6.5-7.0 (depending on the major), or completion of a Foundation or Diploma programme
  • Master’s degree: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree, GPA 4.0/7, IELTS ≥ 6.5
  • Doctoral (PhD) degree: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree with Honours or a research-based Master’s degree, IELTS ≥ 6.5

14. Scholarships

  • International Merit Scholarship: A 25% tuition fee scholarship for the full programme (for Health programmes, applicable to the first year only), available for Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes across all disciplines. Students may continue to receive 25% tuition fee support in subsequent semesters by maintaining a GPA of 5.5/7 (QUT scale) while studying in the following faculties: Business & Law, Creative Industries & Education, Science, Engineering. Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s level: Grade 12 GPA 8.5/10; A Levels: 10/3 academic subjects; IB: 32; Foundation/Diploma: 5.5/7
  • Master’s level: Bachelor’s GPA 3.0/4 or 7.5/10 or 5.0/7
  • Bachelor’s level: A Levels: 9/3 best academic subjects; IB: 30; GPA 8.0/10; Foundation/Diploma: 5.0/7
  • Master’s level: GPA 4.5/7 or 2.35/4 or 5.85/10
  • QUT College English Language Concession: A 25% tuition fee scholarship for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and IELTS Advanced programmes at QUT College. Automatically assessed upon issuance of the Confirmation of Enrolment (COE).
  • QUT College Merit Scholarship: A 25% tuition fee scholarship for the first semester of Foundation and Diploma programmes. Requirements:
  • Foundation: O Levels C/4 major subjects; Grade 11 GPA 8.0; Grade 12 GPA 6.5
  • Diploma: Grade 12 GPA 7.0/10; IB: 30; 4/2 A Level subjects (or 2 A Levels and 2 AS subjects); ATAR ≥ 68
  • Applicants must meet all entry requirements and obtain a COE for programmes in Health Sciences, Business, Engineering, Information Technology, and Creative Industries.

*Note: Students who complete Grade 12 with a GPA of 8.5 or higher and choose the Diploma-to-Bachelor (Year 2 entry) pathway will receive a scholarship package valued at AUD 3,120 + 25% tuition fee (International Merit Scholarship).
