2. Free tuition and some of the lowest living costs in Europe
Currently, 4 out of Germany’s 16 federal states charge moderate tuition fees for the first semester – approximately €500 per semester (~27 million VND per year). The remaining 12 states charge no tuition fees at all. Living costs in Germany also rank among the lowest in Europe, averaging €4,800-€5,400 per year.
3. Excellent opportunities for part-time work, post-study employment, and settlement
International students are permitted to work: Up to 90 full days per year, or equivalent part-time hours. With an average wage of €7/hour, students can earn around €5,040 per year, enough to cover basic living expenses.
After graduation, students can stay in Germany for 18 months to seek employment. The first step is applying for a residence permit for job-seeking purposes. If your job aligns with your field of study, you may become eligible for the EU Blue Card, enabling long-term residency in Germany.

Germany is one of the safest and most politically stable countries in the world. Students benefit from exceptional healthcare services – once insured, they receive medical treatment completely free of charge. German hospitals and clinics are considered among the most modern and efficient in Europe.
Vietnamese student associations are active in nearly every major German city, offering strong support networks. Thanks to this community spirit, Germany is often described as a “home away from home” for Vietnamese students.
5. Strong government support for students
Germany offers extensive financial and social support for students, including:
- Subsidized meals in student cafeterias;
- Free public transportation within the state;
- Discounts at tourist attractions;
- Excellent healthcare benefits at minimal insurance cost.
With over 500 major multinational companies operating in Germany (out of 45,000 foreign enterprises), job prospects are abundant. Some government organizations even offer repatriation support – up to €10,000 investment for job placement and 3-6 months of salary (about €500/month) for graduates returning to Vietnam.
