Finland has the lowest population density among the countries of the European Union, with only about 18 people per km². Climate: warm summers, long and cold winters, especially in the northern region.

After World War II, Finland rapidly transformed from a backward agricultural economy into a highly developed industrial economy, among the top in Europe.
