9. Study Pathways for Vietnamese Students

  • After completing Grade 11: Foundation Programme + Bachelor’s degree (from Year 1);
  • After completing Grade 12, students may choose:
    • Diploma + Bachelor’s degree (from Year 2);
    • Direct entry into Year 1 of a Bachelor’s degree;
  • After completing a Bachelor’s degree: Progress to a Master’s degree;
  • After completing a Master’s degree: Progress to a PhD.

  • Foundation Programme: Completion of Grade 11, GPA 7.0 – 8.0, IELTS 5.0 – 6.0 (depending on the programme, with no band below 5.0);
  • Diploma: Completion of Grade 12, GPA ≥ 6.0, IELTS ≥ 5.5 (no band below 5.5);
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Completion of Grade 12 at recognised high schools, GPA ≥ 7.0, IELTS ≥ 6.0 (no band below 5.5), or completion of a Foundation Programme;
  • Pre-Master’s Programme: Bachelor’s degree completed, GPA ≥ 6.5, IELTS ≥ 5.5 (no band below 5.5);
  • Master’s Degree: Bachelor’s degree completed, GPA ≥ 6.0, IELTS ≥ 6.0 (no band below 6.0);
  • PhD: Master’s degree completed, IELTS ≥ 6.5 (Writing and Speaking 6.5, no band below 6.0).

  • Early Acceptance Scholarship: 15% tuition fee for the full duration of Bachelor’s and coursework Master’s programmes;
  • TIS – Tasmanian International Scholarship: 25% tuition fee reduction for Bachelor’s programmes (excluding Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Dementia Care, and AMC Seafaring courses) or Master’s programmes (excluding selected courses);
  • 10% UTAS Tuition Fee Discounts (for the full duration):
    • Family Alumni Bursary: for students whose parents or siblings are current or former UTAS students;
    • Postgraduate Alumni Scholarship: for students who completed a Bachelor’s degree at UTAS and progress to a coursework Master’s degree;
